We’ll Always Have Berlin

March 26, 2010 |  by  |  Art & Culture

Yet another reason to love Berlin. Christa Joo Hyun D’Angelo sent me her work recently, and I’m glad she did. Christa is a young Berlin based Korean-Italian American artist who was born in 1983 in Pusan, South Korea and was raised in NYC. Christa’s work appropriates and juxtaposes kitsch and banal parts of our culture amid ironic art-historical references, commanding the viewer to contemplate society’s trite existence in a more critical fashion.

Christa is currently preparing for a 2 person show this June and she just recieved the 2010 Artist in Residence in Borzec Sponsored by the Swiss Cultural Progamme of Romania.
