I follow some amazing artists on Twitter. Your timeline consists of thirsty less than talented musicians pumping their latest mixtape like a thug on the corner pushing dime-bags. My timeline looks more like the weed connoisseurs feeding you delicacies on a daily. Needless to say, When Houston based singer/songwriter Mateo Amarei tweeted out the link to his latest single “Head in My Lap” I knew it was going to be something special.
What am I digging today? Nostalgia, childhood, the like… oh Twitter, you sandbox you…For the child in all of us: Muppets, puppets, monsters who are anything but mean, and the lack of ease in being green…
Pop is pastiche at its finest; sometimes you need nothing more than to collect the right pieces and be the sound canvas. Half of Pop is creating the story, the other half is capturing the stars in that momentary align when the stories converge to recognize themselves
Groupthink is defined as the practice of thinking or making decisions as a group in a way that discourages creativity or individual responsibility. It sounds like plenty of fun if you’re one of those people that like to go to the movies with a crowd or sex orgies. But it’s quite sad, some people need other people to know how to feel, when to laugh or cry, and even what to hate. The powers that be handle all of that for these groupthinkers, these social hype-beasts and politically correct hipsters follow the trend and maximize on whatever these dictators of society tell them to do.
Longtime reader Shawn Huckins recently sent us images of his current series entitled An American Revolution Revolution. In the series, the Middleton, CT based artist explores 18th century painting and portraiture techniques in the context of 21st century lexicons. Tweet this. Facebook that. Google me. LOL
. These texting acronyms permeate through our popular culture. Shawn is pointing out, “Technology has brought us closer together, but yet, we’re more removed from each other.”

Twitter is an interesting place. It’s not as messy as the comment section of YouTube. But not by much. I mean there was a profile created for Osama Bin Laden, Obama Bin Laden if you’re Fox News, literally minutes after the announcement of his “death.” Here’s looking at some of our favorite dead visual artists whose voices echoes through Twitter.
Daddy I’m so sorry, I’m so s-s-sorry yeah… Pop just likes to party – with the shadows in the lair #bangbang
3am – do you know where your Pop is? Chances are, if you are a fiend – like so many of us are #dontjudgemepopsconflictfree – your good ol’ grand wonderful Pop was sharing a campfire tale of epic curfew-breaking proportions to the digital world. Three is a powerful number, and this morning when the clock struck thine: Britney dropped a bomb, while GaGa posted on CP time…
A couple of glasses of Sangria and blunts into my weekend, my friend decides it might be fun to watch some B-rated movies. Here we are in her loft in Midtown, Atlanta watching some of the strangest films I’ve ever came across. Among them was the cult-classic, Kids, featuring a very young and promiscuous, Rosario Dawson. The conclusion of the film left me thinking about apathy. Why some people just have no regard for what you’d think would be a major concern for most people? I still don’t have the answer.
Because you don’t find music, music finds you #followon. Pop culture critic & journalist Swiper Bootz blogs about Twitter. It's your timeline, it's Swiper Bootz's turntable since the best music is found there.
