New Work From Tatyana Fazlalizadeh In ‘Arrivals/Depatures’ Group Show

Art Nouveau friend Tatyana Fazlalizadeh is one of many talented female artists participating in NYC group show ARRIVALS/DEPARTURES an exploration of women’s Experience of Migration Under Globalization. The exhibition brings together the aesthetics and community engagement of eleven visual artists, one performance artist, one filmmaker and one writer in an unprecedented trans-ethnic event. Tatyana Fazlalizadeh Continues Powerful Sean Bell Series

Back in January we posted about Tayana Fazlalizadeh’s “Victim of American Fear” piece, inspired by the tragic story of Sean Bell here. As promised, the Philadelphia based artist is expanding on the series and recently sent me this image of a new painting. Like the previous piece, this one depicts a young black male subject with targets cast across his body. Powerful stuff. I’m looking forward to see where this is going.

Tatyana Fazlalizadeh’s “Victim of American Fear (Inspired by Oscar Grant)”

Philadelphia based artist Tayana Fazlalizadeh recently released this piece entitled “Victim of American Fear (Inspired by Oscar Grant)” on her blog. The painting was inspired by the recent sentencing of Johannes Mehserle for the shooting of Oscar Grant. The artist notes this piece “will possibly lead itself into being a series.” I’d love to see more. She is wicked with oil painting. More work like this can quickly turn despair into hope.
