It’s 2012. This December, the world is ending depending on who you believe and with only minutes to the top, Atlanta based band Arrow in the Air is reaching for the sky despite the Mayan’s prediction. If you’ve frequented Art Nouveau Magazine, you may recognize the lead singer Sye Spence, former solo artist who’s worked extensively with us on numerous projects. With her new band, a new sound, attitude and direction, Arrow in the Air is ready to touch the sky.
Spencer Greene aka Savvy Society is a New Jersey born, Atlanta based Producer/DJ who I’ve been familiar with for sometime now. In all actuality, he’s like my little brother from another mother. The self-described ‘anti-hipster’ grew up on house and club music, so it’s no wonder that his sound is sexy a mix of jazzy synths that would make Pharrell coo and banging beats that evoke the tribal thump of both Africa and the fidget bass of Baltimore club music.
New Jersey born producer Savvy Society is preparing to release his latest project Tribal Dance presented by Art Nouveau & GreatEclectic. Here’s another song of the project entitled “Call My Name” featuring Antonio Stapleton & Sye Spence. Listen and download “Call My Name” below.
Jay Scott says love isn’t fair and Sye Spence agrees. This track has been sitting on my laptop for months collecting computer dust and when it came on randomly on iTunes I decided it was time to post it. As beautiful as Jay and Sye’s voices sound together, this is isn’t your typical love song. More of a twisted one than anything. The Ohio born singer/songwriter is currently working on his next project, a mixtape entitled, The Oddball Mixtape. No word if this track will make the cut, but I thought I’d share it with you anyway. Listen and download “It’s Not Fair,” by Jay Scott & Sye Spence.
NYC based singer/songwriter Sye Spence breezed through a blissful three song set that included a cover of Eminem’s “Love The Way You Lie,” selections from her EP Mad Mad World and a whole lot of dreaming at her recent intimate New Year’s Eve performance in Atlanta. Accompanied by only a piano and background singer Tina Rose, Sye Spence in a husky voice, told the crowd “as you can tell I like to dream,” as she started to captivate with her soaring pipes. The show was hosted by Gas Up Radio‘s Guy Anthony and featured artwork by GreatEclectic. Take a closer look at videos of the entire set after the jump.
