Ever the prolific wordsmith, Banksy hit it on the nail, no pun intended, with the above quote. And with that said The Wynwood Walls are Miami’s best weapon. Imagine wall after wall featuring murals by the best in Street Art. Shepard Fairey, FAILE, AIKO, Ron English, Os Gemeos, Space Invader and many more artists have created walls and pieces that people the expansive visual art garden.

The Wynwood Walls is located on NW 2nd Ave in the Design District of Miami. If you’re down for Art Basel, you don’t want to miss this. They’ll be having a pop-up shop all through the weekend.

All walls are great if the roof doesn’t fall

Don’t call it a comeback–especially if you’re Chris Brown. But the R&B crooner seems to be on the right track with this new project. Even if the material sucks, I haven’t listened to a full Chris Brown song honestly, he’s winning with this cover art. The work which features a masterfully rendered portrait of Breezy was created by Pop art king Ron English. The artist was commissioned to create the art after meeting last year. Chris Brown’s FAME is set to be released March 22.

American pop artist Ron English recently opened his latest exhibition Status Factory at the Frank M. Doyle Arts Pavillion of Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, California. Tools Of The Trade is taking a trip from the Bay area to Miami for Art Basel. They will be setting up a pop-up art gallery for the week featuring artists such as Mike Giant, Ron English, Donny Miller, Tara McPherson, Buff Monster, Claw Money, Anthony Ausgang, Mark Bode, Vaughn Bode &More. The opening party will be Friday, December 3rd from 8pm-2am. The pop up gallery is located at 153 N.W. 36th St. Miami, Florida 33127, and will be open to the public December 2-5, 10am-8pm daily.

For those of you who love to get the party started, Tools of the Trade will be hosting an after party at the Overthrow Castle December 4th. This event will feature carnival games and secret musical guests and DJs will be performing at the free event. The Overthrow Castle party will be held at 51 NW 20th Street, Downtown, Miami 33137.

A bevy of street artists took to Beacon, NY this past weekend for the “Electric Windows” for extensive live painting sessions on giant canvas walls and outdoor installations. The full list of artists reads like a who’s who in Street Art. Big Foot, Buxtonia, BoogieRez, Cern, Chor Boogie, Chris Stain, Chris Yormick, Depoe, Elbow Toe, Elia Gurna, Ellis G, Erik Otto, Eugene Good, Faust, Gaia, Joe Iurato, Kid Zoom, Mr Kiji, Logan Hicks, Lotem & Aviv, Michael De Feo, Paper Monster, Peat Wollaeger, Rick Price, Ron English, Ryan Bubnis, Ryan Williams, Skewville, and thundercut were all there. 100 artists including contemporary art heavyweights like Ron English, Paul Frank & Hugh Brown are seeing Satan to raise funds for exhibitions for CUSF Grand Central Art Center in Santa Ana, CA. The exhibition sees the vast list of artists and their interpretation of the supreme demon. Unlike the original exhibition, this iteration of the collection will be presented as a fundraiser, with works available for sale to the public. All proceeds will benefit future GCAC programs and exhibitions 100 Artists See Satan opens July 3rd, with a reception for the artists and runs through August 15.

This second installation of the exhibit will offer the public a chance to purchase works from the original collection of acclaimed artists including Ron English, Todd Schorr, Paul Frank, Laurie Lipton, Camille Rose Garcia, Charles Kraft, Hugh Brown, Jeff Gillette, F. Scot Hess, Marnie Weber, CR Stecyk, James Lorigan, Edward Colver, Manuel Pardo, Laurie Hassold, Skot Olson, Nathan Spoor, Bigfoot, Dalek, Bale Creek Allen, Greg Gibbs, Naida Osline, Tyler Stallings, Albert Cuellar and more.

To further raise funds, Grammy Award winning graphic and packaging designer, Hugh Brown has been commissioned to create a 100 Artists See Satan credit card, limited edition of 666. This collector’s item is available only at the GCAC bookstore for $50. Cardholder’s benefits include a discount on select merchandise at the GCAC store and an invitation to the VIP preview event on June 26.

These days Pop isn’t such a dirty word. It’s just another way of saying “Popular.” And there’s nothing wrong with being on top. When Andy Warhol said everyone would be famous for 15 minutes, I doubt even he knew the effects the Internet would have on our popular culture. If any contemporary artist is the direct heir to Warhol’s legacy it’d be Ron English. His mastery at creating not just amazing artwork, but marketable products is a testament to an idea Picasso began and Warhol later perfected.
