Diary of a Mad Black Stevie is an audio diary of everything I’ve been thinking about listening to and experimenting with for the past couple months. This project gives you a look into the mind of a young black woman who has the ability to travel through other dimensions
Growing up I was scared of few things. One of those few things was The Sixth Sense. The imagery isn’t what really fucked me up; it was that epiphany at the end. It was the reevaluation of what was reality that I had to do when I was having a tough enough time mastering long division. The funny thing about one’s reality is that no matter how stark and scary or warm and lovely it is, the one who has accepted that reality is comfortable with it. Changing it sends us into shock and panic. Something else that stirred up fear in my heart was Marilyn Manson.

If I get another email about SXSW I’m going to scream. Even louder than I’m currently screaming because I won’t be there. A.K.A. Frowny Face. As painter Tatyana Fazlalizadeh tweeted, “#sxsw feels like all the fun kids leaving school for a field trip and you gotta stay back cus you didn’t get your permission slip signed.” If you’re one of those ‘fun kids’ with permission slips currently frolicking indie music heaven here are six artists and shows you must check out.
A. Ware gives Tyler The Creator’s ‘Yonkers’ a new take and brings Young Lyxx along for the ride. The two emcees trade lyrical barbs ripe with witty wordplay that’d make Yeezy blush. XXL needs to take note for next year’s list. The Chicago born, Atlanta based emcee is set to release his upcoming album Lady Heroin. Listen and download the track below.
Theophilus London sits behind an aging wooden table eagerly munching on the vegetable platter that was brought out for him. His long and lanky arms engulf the table as he grabs another baby carrot from the vegetable platter. His eyes are hidden behind his signature dark shades and a cap, he designed to coincide with the release of his first EP Lovers Holiday, covers his head.
Since releasing This Charming Mixtape in 2009, the Brooklyn raised performer, has garnered a lot of attention for his electro-pop driven music. Theophilus came to Atlanta to perform exclusively for Art Nouveau Magazine’s 3rd Year Anniversary Party at Deefor Centre. He sat down with Art Nouveau before soundcheck to discuss his musical influences (including Garth Brooks), his rise to fame, and what female body part gives his music the most inspiration.
