Everybody Nose: Yis Goodwin Is NoseGo

April 28, 2011 |  by  |  Art & Culture

As an art editor I receive countless submissions. A majority of them aren’t for Art Nouveau. Sometimes it seems as if artists aren’t reading the site. If you browsed through Art Nouveau for two minutes you’d get a pretty solid gist of the type of work we are looking for. Thank whatever or whomever you pray to that Yis Goodwin aka NoseGo knew who he was submitting to. The Philadelphia based artist recently introduced his artwork to us and we’re glad to share it.

Visual Inspiration For Today: Rudy Gutierrez

April 21, 2011 |  by  |  Art & Culture

Illustrator Rudy Gutierrez’s work has given me so much inspiration this week. I love how his work has such a cultural feel. The colors, the exaggeration of the figures and the tribal markings really brings out his unique style of illustrating. He also throws in the Basquiat crown every now and then and I love it. For more on Rudy Gutierrez google him or go look at some pics below.

Artist of the Week: Paper Frank

March 14, 2011 |  by  |  Art & Culture

Atlanta based painter/graphic designer Paper Frank is doing a damn good job of permeating the Atlanta art scene. Bright, engaging and youthful, I was introduced to Frank’s work by Scarlett Spade of CocainePretti, and since then I’ve enjoyed working with him on events (Super Pop, Tabloid and Art Nouveau’s Three year Anniversary Party) and watching his career flourish. Now an apprentice at Atlanta based tattoo shop City of Ink, the self-taught artist is working on a upcoming solo show. Paper Frank is Art Nouveau Magazine’s Artist of the Week. Take a closer look at his work below. Photos courtesy of Paul Abraham Photography.
