Strange Fruit: Sam Van Olffen & Graphic Sampling

French graphic designer Sam Van Olffen explore strange universes, with retro futuristic influences and bizaros characters with vivid detail and we, the viewer luck up for it. What he brings back is a glimpse into what may, or may not be in the deep unconscious mind of us all. Sam’s technique of work is called Graphic Sampling. He extracts elements from pictures and from my own photographs of real-life objects, and combine them to create a new, darker, fantasy reality, as a DJ might create a new sound. A Photographer That Thinks Like A Cinematographer

If I had to make one observation about our generation it’d be that our generation is one fortunate enough to wear different hats in professional life. Fashion photographer/designer/model Thom Kerr is of this “slasher” generation. Thom approaches creating images like a cinematographer would approach filming a movie.
