August 29, 2011 |  by  |  Feature, Music

Ned Kelly is a notorious Australian gangster considered a cold-blooded killer and is symbolic in Australia for political resistance. Think Scarface, but with a purpose. Grace Kelly is an iconic American actress that is known as much for her poise as her monologues. “I use to be obsessed with Grace Kelly. When I get married, I want to dress like her. She’s so gracefully chic. […] if i was a diva, I want to be that diva without the diamonds.” Iggy Azalea spiels about Ned Kelly over lushing about how much she misses meat-pies from her hometown of, Australia, and easily changes subjects to her love of Grace Kelly.

Nostalgia In Full Color, Hernando Alzate’s “American Icons” At Cristina Chacon Gallery

August 8, 2011 |  by  |  Art & Culture, Scenes

American Icons, a recent solo exhibition by Hernando Alzate was nothing new under the sun. But that isn’t saying much. What is new these days? All forms of creation rely heavily on the work made before it. However, what American Icons lacked in new ideas, it made up for with visually stimulating images and an in depth process that if anything is a technical achievement. June 20, 2011 |  by  |  Music

New York City holds a special place for artists. No matter the medium, intrinsically there is something that pushes most creative minds to get their asses to New York if they ever plan to get serious about their career. If you’re an artist, I know you’ve heard that internal chant constantly reminding you ‘You’ve got to have your New York years, You’ve got to have your New York years.’ I’ve heard that voice since I was young. I’ve ignored it, loathed it, talked back, and now I’m finally listening. Which is why Nemo Achida‘s latest EP, Goodbye Brooklyn found it’s way to my inbox in the nick of time.

We Love Sneaky Sound System

June 15, 2011 |  by  |  Music

Sneaky Sound System is our latest sonic obsession. Part Neptunes era Kelis, party Vanity Six, part Marilyn Monroe, their video for their single ‘We Love’ is a quirky, bright video that gives tongue and cheek a very literal meaning. The track is insanely catchy, and nods to the 80′s while managing to ooze everything contemporary. Andy would be proud.
