The energy was high for Ben Carson‘s “Melodic Monster” EP release party this past Thursday at WonderRoot. First up was Jack Preston. Jack Preston’s set was definitely hip-hop inspired, the only one of the night. Jack breezed through songs from his projects. He ended with the amped track “Psycho Mystic,” a song that calls to the mind Outkast’s best.
After Jack’s performance one could wonder how far else the intensity of the night could go. Quench to it there and back. The Atlanta, rock trio brought down the house with riveting performances of their tracks. theDOLLDAZE took the stage for a rare intimate acoustic set. She typically performs with a full band. The performance was a more subdued version of theDOLLDAZE, but it was dynamic nonetheless. theDOLLDAZE did what she does best–sang. It was awesome to hear her voice, which can be lost in the shuffle of a full on rock performance. This acoustic set showed off her powerful voice. She performed songs, new and old.
Ben Carson took the stage cast among blood red strobe lights as cameras flashed continuously. The rockstar, backed by his band Jack on drums, Fred on Guitar and Dondria on bass, rocked out live versions of the songs from his recently released EP “Melodic Monster. “Breaking Me Down,” “Temptation,” “Wasted” and new song “Selfish” were all covered.
