Red, Red, Red: Sophia Carolyn G.’s “Red Wall” Series

July 28, 2010 |  by

There’s nothing like an inspired woman. Sophia Carolyn G. is that. The visual and performing artist from Philadelphia, PA recently graduated from Spelman College in Atlanta, GA with a BA in Fine Arts. She hopes to influence women of all walks of life to live life meaningfully and with renewed self-worth. This urge echoes throughout all her work but it’s most notable in her current series Goddesses of The Red Wall Chronicles which find Sophia painting twisted nude female figures in a style remincist of Basquiat. I can’t wait to see her new series The Robot Chronicles. Check out some of Sophia’s work below.

GREATeclectic aka Kendrick Daye is a DJ, artist and the Editor of Art Nouveau Magazine. As a freelance journalist and photographer his work has been featured in the NY Times Magazine, Ebony Magazine, Upscale Magazine, Creative Loafing, Honeymag.com & Yo-Raps.com.
