Oliver Black Looks For Inspiration Across The Country

July 28, 2010 |  by

San Francisco-based artist Oliver Black is as free as the birds he’s known for painting. Earlier this month, Oliver packed his van with a bevy of new work of solid patterns of signature bred birds on wooden panels and headed across the country stopping in cities to find the inspiration he was lacking. Oliver got the inspiration from a visit with his father at his studio in Oakland.

“I was reflecting on a conversation we had about finding inspiration,” Oliver writes. “After I complained about the lack of that in my life at the time, I decided embarking on a trip to distant lands was in order.”

The artist has his last stop in Atlanta, which includes a unique installation that will be on view at ABV Gallery this Friday, July 30 from 7 PM – 11 PM. The exhibit runs through Aug 22.
