Three must be my lucky number. As I look back on the past three plus years of doing this “Art Nouveau“ thing, I can’t help but feel lucky. This issue we look back at the roller coaster these three years have been.
What’s a party without awesome guests? For our anniversary issue we went searching for that perfect cover. Thanks to artist Timothy Eugene we have it. His illustration of Kanye West (One of our “Artists of the Year”) was selected out of a pool of hundreds of submissions. Six other artists including Thomars, Enteni Karyuk, GreatEclectic, Mike Antor, Neža Agnes Momirski, Thomars also wowed us. Their cover designs can be seen in this issue as well.
Any celebration of Art Nouveau, literally ‘new art,‘ wouldn’t be complete without a profile or two on new artists. I catch up with NY street artist TMNK about graffiti, racial profiling and those pesky Basquiat comparisons. February 24th, we will celebrate this brand of insanity properly.
