Especially On A Day Like Today, The Most Patriotic & Unpatriotic Work Ever

July 4, 2011 |  by  |  Art & Culture

“Everything that is really great and inspiring is created by the individual who can labor in freedom.”

- Albert Einstein

Politics and art go hand in hand. Even when artists try to stray away from the political, trading in sharp criticism with personal divulges, opinions whether direct or indirect find their way in the work. It’s an artists responsibility to say something if nothing about our current culture.

Whether they are oozing in Patriotism and love for our country like Al Nash’s recent works from his American Icons series or hope for a new future like Shepard Fairey’s iconic poster of Obama or just plain mad see some of the Bush street art, these works are some of our favorite patriotic and unpatriotic works of art.

These are two works from Atlanta based artist Al Nash's upcoming series 'American Icons'.
