The Moon Becomes Jack Preston’s Muse In Latest Series

March 25, 2011 |  by  |  Art & Culture

This has nothing to do with that lackluster Super Moon we witnessed a week ago.  Atlanta based producer/emcee/artist Jack Preston has always had an interest in the cosmos. According to him, “we are all connected,” and his latest series of work entitled The Moon Series is his visual reminder. Take a closer look at the entire series below and read what Jack has to say about the work below.

Art Nouveau: What inspired this series of work?

Jack Preston: The series was inspired by a few different things. Aesthetically, it was inspired by a previous album cover that I created for an Atlanta based musician. The cover displayed very simple shapes, but strong textures and complex spacial depth. So I decided to explore those elements further.

Conceptually, it was inspired by my interested in the cosmos. I choose to use something familiar and relate-able to represent the underlying message, which is; We all play our part, big or small. And we are all connected. I just wanted to send a simple message out to remind people that we all actually have things in common…like the moon.

AN: What’s next for you?

JP: have a much new content coming up next. It seems to be collaboration season, so I have been working with a variety of dope musicians, visual artists and political activists from across the U.S. I’m also currently working on my first full length record. Last year I dropped 5 ep’s and mini concept albums. This project will display all of my crafts in one project. I’m excited…I hope it inspires.
