Experiments In Hi-Fi, Lo-Fi & iPhone Art At Gallery M

It’s random. Good art finds me. I passed Gallery M while on my way to another show Audacity of Dope which my friend DJ X was djing at. I was lucky enough to catch Gallery M’s show entitled Hipstographs: Experiments in Hi-Fi Lo-Fi.

Inside the space was filled top to bottom with square photographs. The gallery owner met me at the door, eager to speak on the show. ‘What kind of camera do you think these photos were taken with?’ he asks. I eye the photos over and turn to him and say an ‘iPhone’. He looks shocked. Because the pun is you wouldn’t think these marvelous photos were digital, let alone taken and edited within seconds on a phone application. But they are.

The impressive lineup featured notable artists as Elyse Defoor, Michael Phillips and more. In total 40 artists contributed work to the show. Take a closer look at some of the photos, and here’s the pun, taken with an iPhone.
