Whose World Is This? It’s Mine, Yours & It’s Definitely Iggy Azalea’s

The year’s coming to an end and I’m preparing to lie to myself once again about resolutions that I’m going to make for 2012. Cue Iggy Azalea’s “My World” video and it actually reminds me of everything that I’ve learned in 2011, and I’ll let you in on the secret best secret I’ve learned since “The Secret”: the world is yours and you can do and be whatever the fuck you want to be.

Iggy Azalea personifies that perfect with cotton-candy actually laced in gold, motorcycle jackets, and scantily clad girls in cheerleader uniforms spray-painting building walls. Iggy Azalea is clearly in control with a special stamp of approval from hood-villain, Debo, of the “Friday” franchise. The little nuances in the video really explicate visually a bitch creating her world. Iggy Azalea spray-paints “Ignorant Art” (the name of her mixtape) on a wall with her best friend with no help from outsiders. She handling her own fog-machine, burns her own rubber, and handles her own dogs. This is thriller; this is Iggy Azalea’s world that she created out of her own twisted, little mind. Iggy Azalea isn’t selfish, the deeper message of the video is that you can have your own world too, just write the script. Whose world is this? It’s mine. Yours. And it’s definitely Iggy Azalea’s.

I’m an artist (by the way of writing and creative direction in music and fashion) born in New York City, currently living in Atlanta, Ga that enjoys being observed and exploited, so I’m hardly a rarity.
