Friday, Aug 20, Art Nouveau & The-Socials.com hosted FUNKshion: Fashion Night Out at Wm Turner Gallery in Atlanta, GA. The show featured performances by singer/songwriter Jay Scott and Detroit born singer Vina Mills, sounds by GreatEclectic, live art by Corinne Stevie and collections by Sojourner E.S. and Rafael Cox.
Nouveau Music artist Jay Scott opened the show with a smashing performance of his single “Champions.” His voice was in tip-top shape as he belted through the song.
After Jay’s performance, Dane Young of the-Socials.com and the host for the night introduced the first line Rafael by Rafael Cox. Rafael’s line included mostly black and gray pieces with exaggerated shoulders and waists. The models of HOP strutted Rafael’s clothes to the pumping bass of a M.I.A. and Corinne Stevie mashup.
Detroit born, Atlanta based singer Vina Mills kept the crowd busy while models prepared for the next scene. Vina performed her song “Yeah,” an underground hit in the city of Detroit. Vina’s Tina Turner inspired performance had the crowd pumped for what was to come.
Dane Young took the stage again to introduce the second designer of the night, Sojourner E.S. Sojourner presented her collection House of Maus of her eponymous line. The bright Betsey Johnson inspired collection was a show stopper–at once sexy and bubbly.
