New York based artist Daniel Amazu Wasser is gearing up for his solo exhibition at AS IF Gallery which just opened in Harlem, NYC. Wasser’s aptly title exhibition, Planet Rock, layers elements of traditional African culture with Hip-Hop and pop culture imagery. Sade, Joan Jett, Foxy Brown, Lauryn Hill, all become the artists’ muse in his world which pulsates with the attitude rock has. The show will feature 40 pieces.

AS IF Gallery is a collaboration between Nicole Rauscher, fabric designer, Seth Tillett, scenographer and artist, and Diego Cortez curator. The gallery is dedicated to their friend Sylvère Lotringer, Editor of Semiotext(e) and the Semiotext(e) Foreign Agents Series. Take a closer look at images from “Planet Rock” below.
