chas: i blend in with the hood, im camouflage

these pair of bape sandals are so dope because an assortment of camouflage could be created around them. almost hundred years later, camouflage still serves it’s purpose through the art of fashion and war. the print was designed in 1915 as a defense mechanism and for protection. it was used first by the french army during WWI. the word camouflage comes from the french word, camoufler meaning “to blind or veil.” the print is so intriguing because it has the potential to adapt with almost any piece of article of clothing with discretion.

About Chasmin Anthony

i am chas; a woman of many shoes, ideas, and loaded guns. art is my passion, my mind is my favorite medium. before hiding my face behind a pair of margiela l’cognitos and wearing "all foreign everything," i had art mediums. mediums such as; pencils, paint brushes, chalk, etc. instead of dolls, easy bake ovens, or barbie cars i grew up with canvases, fables, and old jazz vinyls. i had to study vincent van gogh’s introspective paintings before understanding the delicate designs of hubert de givenchy. it was erykah badu’s “mama’s gone” album that helped become clever, before jeezy’s “thug motivation” added to my flame as a hustler. i read the tales and poetry of edgar alan poe before i had any interest in editorial works by paris vogue’s, emanuelle alt. now i am on a mission to save the world and all of his homeboys, one shoe at a time.
