When artists want to share new work they take to the Internet. Akira Beard has been posting new work to his flickr account all August. He recently posted a piece of Jesus, yesterday (Sept 1).  Akira’s new work is themed off pop culture icons. Jesus, Fonzie from Happy Days and more become Akira’s subjects.

San Francisco based artist Akira is part of the Tenderloin artist community. Akira is known for painting layered portraits of pop culture icons and these new works don’t disappoint fans of his earlier work. Take a closer look at Akira’s new work below.
