What a year, what a year. 2010 was a year for the records to say the least. Between oil spills, earthquakes, handfuls of gay men going wild, and don’t ask don’t tell being repealed, it would be a sin to say that history wasn’t made. Of course with every pop cultural twist and turn, Art Nouveau was right there bringing you posts and articles to keep you updated and tuned. With the year and quite an eventful decade coming to an end, we decided to bring to you a list of jaw dropping fads, people, events and occurrences that sum up the pop cultural potency of the year 2010.

Black Gay Men Gone Wild
Yes, I said it. As if the gay community wasn’t already going through enough with their grandeur goals of getting equalizing legislation passed out, they also had to deal with the fact that on the black side of the spectrum…things were getting wild. First there was Eddie Long, a well renowned and Bible thumping pastor who had time and time again preached about the sinfulness of homosexuality only to through an odd turn of fate, be announced as not only being homosexual BUT preying on young men in his congregation. So…let me get this straight: Eddie Long preaches about the abomination of being a ‘faggot’ only for it to come out that he likes his flow tighter than a dick in the butt. For years Eddie Long had succeeded in thwarting everyone’s gaydar, but…we should have known. His seemingly alpha male Steve Harvey suits, along with his soul glo jherri curl, couple with his infamous homosexual hunts were a recipe for a down low disaster.

As if that wasn’t jaw jarring enough, a man by the name of Antoine Dodson decided to step out on the scene with his infamous, “Hide ya kids, Hide ya wives” quote. The quote itself was in correlation to a media clip in which Antoine Dodson was passionately threatening a man who had broken into his and his family’s project residence in an attempt to rape his sister. Throughout the weeks following the infamous interview, the famous quote went from being a passionate threat, to a ringtone, an embarrassing BET performance and Antoine Dodson working his fifteen minutes of fame and side ponytail like it was the hottest Givenchy piece. AS IF THAT hadn’t resulted in the black gay community getting a side eye…in came CrunkCoco. As if his overwhelming gayness wasn’t already enough, factor in the fact that he was mentally incapacitated and you have a recipe for disaster. “WHO YOU FINNA TRY?!?!…of course not you Miss Coco, everyone knows you go straight to hell for messing with a special ed kid.

It’s Kat Stacks Bitch
Women deny being a hoe. Not the case with Kat Stacks. Instead the amount of men her vagina had been pounded by, she was all for releasing the numbers and dropping famous names. Everyone from Lil Wayne to Soulja Boy fell victim to the aids.com spokeswoman. The political and global arena’s main menace in the year 2010 might have been Julian Assange, but the in the pop cultural and music world the main menace was Kat Stacks.

The Based God
It literally sprung up out of nowhere. I remember being at a club and watching as hundreds upon hundreds of blipsters were doing all these wild crazy motions with their hands as their heads bobbled awkawardly. The dance cooking, was a revolution sprung when The Pack member Lil B decided to venture upon his own. The Based God, which is the name he dubbed himself might have had the weakest rhyme flow, but when it came to starting a revolution Lil B had hoes on his dick because he “cooked like George Foreman”.

4 Loko Getting Banned
A drink that was affectionately dubbed “blackout” in a can by teenage users finally got banned after a surge of drunk college kids passing out, blacking out and wilding out. You would think that with such a self explanatory name, the drink would be avoided but that was in no way the case. In an effort to save face, the company issued a removal of the three vital 4 Loko ingredients leaving the drink to be only one loko. In the days that followed Craigslist and Ebay experienced a burst of people desperately trying to find the forbidden drink and some making quick cash at the expense of others thirst.

Taylor Gang or Fucking Die
Taylor gang went from being a crew that Wiz Khalifa hung with that all just so happened to wear sneakers, to a lifestyle that every blipster wanted to embody. The jist of the movement included one avoiding mid at all cost, smoke loud when all possible, dressing up like an urban outfitter mannequin and declaring Wiz Khalifa, a black tattoo clad anorexic coke head, your lord and savior. Being part of the Taylor gang also meant that you had to get a Tumblr and at least once a day post a picture of hipster white girls wearing Jeffrey Campbell shoes eat each other out and smoke weed. The climax of Wiz Khalifa and his Taylor Gang crew occurred when he was arrested for possession of marijuana and everyone tried to act surprised. Hmmm…let me see, Wiz Khalifa released a mix-tape called Kush and OJ, Grow Season, How Fly and Burn After Rolling to name a few and we didn’t expect the police to catch on?!?!?!
